Japan’s largest national daily The Yomiuri Shimbun (Tokyo) – the paper operating the TSUMUGU: Japan Art & Culture web portal – will support the upcoming ICOM Kyoto 2019 (Sept. 1-7) as its highest-tier platinum sponsor.
The 25th General Conference of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) will be held at the Kyoto International Conference Center and other venues in Kyoto city. This is the first time ICOM is holding its triennial general conference in Japan.
ICOM Kyoto 2019 has set “Museums as Cultural Hubs: The Future of Tradition” as its main theme and will welcome about 3,000 participants to discuss and exchange information on museum-related issues through sessions, excursions and workshops.
ICOM was established in 1946 as an international non-governmental organization of museum experts and headquartered in Paris. Currently, it consists of about 40,000 experts from about 140 countries and regions.
