Garments said to be once donned by the historical warlord Uesugi Kenshin (1530-78) and other members of the powerful Uesugi clan, which were repaired under the auspices of the Tsumugu Project, can be viewed sequentially at the Keisho-den treasure house of Uesugi Jinja — a shrine dedicated to Kenshin — in Yonezawa, Yamagata Pref., where they are kept.

Visitors to the treasure house will be able to view at least one of the four repaired samurai surcoats of the Muromachi-Momoyama period — all of which are designated important cultural properties of Japan — along with other garments and objects associated with the Uesugi until Oct. 29, 2024.
