Restoration works of Japan’s artistic treasures supported by TSUMUGU

In fiscal 2022, the Tsumugu Project — a joint effort of Japan’s Cultural Affairs Agency, Imperial Household Agency and national daily The Yomiuri Shimbun (Tokyo) to help conserve the nation’s artistic treasures — is providing financial support for the restoration of six cultural assets, comprising two registered national treasures and four registered important cultural properties.

The “Illustrated Sutra of Cause and Effect” of Jobonrendai-ji temple (Kyoto) was moved to Kyoto National Museum’s Conservation Center for Cultural Properties for repairs.
