The incredible techniques, inexorably, declined with the Westernization of Japan. Also on display are Meiji-era craftwork of artistic and historical value, a great number of which was collected by Masayuki&nbsp;Murata, the director of the Kiyomizu Sannenzaka Museum in Kyoto.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1280\" height=\"790\" src=\"\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/15ec3b38785f33bdbe26f10de81fd47a-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22097\"\/><figcaption> Fukuda Toru<br>Puddling (2022)<br>Ebony, black persimmon, persimmon, Japanese spindle tree, magnolia, picrasma wood, willow and amarillo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The &#8220;transcendental techniques&#8221; in today&#8217;s craft art can be found, for instance, in Fukuda Toru&#8217;s amazing woodwork &#8220;Puddling&#8221; (2022). The lifelike butterflies were made by fitting small pieces of wood, instead of carving out the figures. The puddles were burnished after chiseling away the platform. Inazaki Eriko&#8217;s &#8220;Euphoria&#8221; (2023) does not look like anything but a beautiful piece of lace.
